Remich, Luxembourg

A very quiet start. We chose not to do the tour to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg but walked around Remich. Saw some interesting sculptures and crossed the bridge to Germany.

Beautiful bell ringing at 9:30 – time for the city to wake up!
The Moselle river
One foot in Luxembourg and one foot in Germany.

It was then a quiet time on the ship as we headed to Tries. Amazing Roman buildings still standing despite wars and French occupation. We completed our guided tour, led by a very passionate (and at times biased) historian. We explored the two churches- Trier Cathedral and the Church of Our Lady.

We then tried to find somewhere to have a beer but only wine on the streets.

Imperial baths
Karl Marx, founder of communism, was born in Tries.
Porta Nigra – black gate
Bubble blowing in the square annoyed our guide – how could someone blow bubbles when history was being shared?
The two churches

We returned for a late dinner followed by happy hour.

The entree was so nice that Wayne ate his lettuce. In his words, lettuce is usually a waste of space.
Happy hour – margaritas all round!
