Strasbourg, France is amazing. Such a beautiful and humming place. We enjoyed a walking tour of the city with a wonderful guide, Raphaela.

We returned to the ship for a light lunch and then Donna stayed to enjoy the whirlpool and the rest of us headed out to one of the fortresses of The Maginot Line, built to defend France in WWII.
A staggering cost and an amazing engineering feat but one would argue it’s worth. As Danny said though, sliding doors – without the line, a different course in history?

We arrived back to the ship in time for happy hour and another delicious dinner.

Faux pas of the day
Danny being unable to resist the Guglehupf. In his defence, our guide had talked it up.

Danny: Running back to the patisserie, buying one for 12 euros, and then tearing it apart, distributing to the group and devouring it as we were waiting to return to the bus. The kicker: With his mouth full of cake and with icing sugar spraying everywhere, Raphaela looked directly at Danny and asked, ‘Isn’t there enough food on the ship?’
Danny then proceeded to offer the little remaining and ripped-apart cake to her…which she declined politely. I can’t imagine what she was thinking!
