Heading to Basel and our Avalon cruise

After a good night’s rest, a shower and a sleep-in, Wayne and I did a quick walk and then joined the others for a lovely breakfast.

Walk in Zürich
Breakfast

We caught the tram to the train station before catching a train to Basel.

Mind the gap!

We were bussed to our home for the next eleven days – Avalon Tranquility II.

This time, our transport and sign were waiting.

We were taken straight to lunch and welcome drinks. Once we settled into our rooms, we went for a stroll to the pylon where three countries meet – Switzerland, France and Germany.

Our rooms are amazing – we will have views from our room the whole trip. The doors open as well – magic!

Try getting out of these!

A quick nap and then relaxing together before the safety talk and a 5 course dinner (Mark and I had the snails which were delicious).

Immediate impressions

* an abundance of delicious food and drinks

* friendly and welcoming staff

* a beautiful room with incredible views

…and a group of wonderful friends to enjoy it all with.

New friends – Wayne introduced himself to the group of four from Chile. This is James and Anna-Marie.

Faux pas of the day

Danny asking if there will be any locks on our trip. Apparently 38 and we were in our 3rd when we went to bed.

The third loch – fascinating to watch the water disappear
Cut it out, boys!
Who loves a good tickle?
